About the Club
History of the Club
The Exeter University & City Jiu Jitsu Clubs were set up in August 2006 by Dr Richard Catterick (4th Degree black belt). He is the chief instructor and founder of our style and currently is the most senior BJJAGB (British Jiu Jitsu Association - Governing Body) black belt in the South West.
Achievements
In 2007 we won the national SMR jiu jitsu club of the year.
In Nov 2008 our club was joint top of the medal table at the national championships.
About Us
We now have approaching sixty people training in our four weekly city class with a good mix of men and women. Our ages and occupation vary from college students to medical practioners. We're all very friendly and we welcome beginners at every class. After each class we genrally visit the local pub after training to unwind and get to know everyone better.
We have regular meals out and there is always a great atmosphere both on and off the mat.
Costs
Your first class is free, This gives you a good opportunity to see if the class is what you you want witout paying anything up front.
After a few classes, you'll need to become a member (which includes insurance) which is £25.
We can supply you with a Jiu Jitsu uniform (Gi) and white belt but we recommend you to try a few sessions before you purchase this to ensure that this class is right for you.
Your first grading is included in the membership fee.
